1925
In 1925, Ioannis Tsaousoglou founded a small furniture industry to meet the needs of the local market in Thessaloniki. In the coming years as the demand increases, the production will be transferred to Athens and the company will become the benchmark of the market.
1954
In 1954, the sons of Ioannis Tsaousoglou, Charalampos, Lazaros and Eleftherios, founded the Greek Metal Furniture Industry (EBME) Tsaousoglou. In a short period of time, EBME becomes a leader in its field, supplying and equipping the largest public and private organizations in the country.
1965
In 1965, Charalampos Tsaousoglou bought the Xenia Hotel in Corfu and builds the Corfu Hilton Hotel in its place, due to its unique location and wonderful view. In 1965 a small group of visionary Greek shareholders Mr Ch. Tsaousoglou, Mr. G. Fokas, Mr A. Retsos and Mr T. Sviriades gave life to the first hotel of the Electra hotel chain, the now classic Electra at Ermou Street in the center of Athens right next to Syntagma Square, followed by Electra Palace at Aristotelous square, in Thessaloniki.
1967
In 1967 Charalampos Tsaousoglou buys a large area in the Ropa Valley. The well-known architect Nikos Hatzimichalis undertakes the design of the Club House and Donald Harradine, the Swiss golf course architect, undertakes the construction of the golf course. Construction begins and by 1971 Corfu Golf Club is ready to begin operations.
1970
In the 1970s, alongside the rise of the Greek economy, the production of EBME intensified. The company, with a workforce of 600 people, sets trends in design for the Greek market and starts exporting to many countries abroad. At the same time EBME begins to import products of leading European brands to complement its production. So far, Tsaousoglou’s businesses employ a total of almost 2,000 workers.
1972
In 1972, the main building and bungalows of the iconic Corfu Hilton hotel were designed by the famous architect N. Hatzimichalis. The sculpture at the entrance is inspired by the famous Greek painter Yiannis Moralis, one of the most important Greek visual artists of the “Generation of the ’30” movement.
1996
Corfu Hilton becomes Corfu Holiday Palace. The Corfu Holiday Palace, which retains its original architecture and features, consists of luxurious rooms, bungalows with private pools, and suites with stunning views of Pontikonissi and the Ionian Sea.
2000
Konstantinos Tsaousoglou , son of Charalampos Tsaousoglou , takes over the management of the historic 5* Corfu Holiday Palace hotel.
Tsaousoglou SA furniture accomplishes some of the biggest projects of the beginning of the millennium, equipping the buildings of Eurobank, the National Bank of Greece, Geniki Bank, National Insurance and the majority of leading shipping companies.
2021
The year 2021 is a year of rebirth for Corfu Golf Club, celebrating 50 years since its establishment in 1971. It is also the year that Charalampos Tsaousoglou, son of Konstantinos Tsaousoglou and grandson of the founder Charalampos Tsaousoglou, takes over the Management of the golf course and sets upgrade and development plan.
2023
Today, Tsaousoglou’s businesses continue their successful operations in the fields of hospitality and furniture.
